Hanyuu vs Tsukasa – I had to give it to Tsukasa.
As much as I adore Higurashi, Hanyuu is really nothing without Rika. Hanyuu’s horns and Miko dress combine with the ’shy+timid’ charatype for 3 distinct moé points, yet she feels like less than the sum of her parts. In contrast Tsukasa’s shy, timid, lazy, slow, etc. attributes are dull and stereotypical even by moétic composition standards. Yet what she lacks in the creativity of her basic nature, she more than makes up for in nearly flawless execution.
Is anything more inane than blogging your moé tournament voting? I think not, yet I feel compelled to continue… Full map of my votes after the break.

Megane may well be too powerful… and I mean that in all possible ways!
Useless, but so very cute!
Hmm… should’ve added Double Shot huh?

Meet the new hero, Same as… er… no, wait…
Ep 2 of Ga-Rei Zero gives us more of the same over the top supernatural combat action that made the first episode so gleefully delightful, and somehow doesn’t collapse under the weight of it’s own weird.

Shikabane Hime is moody, stylish, disquieting, and… oh so ever much Blood+ meets Eva angst.
Excitement not rising.

Ga-Rei Zero is cheesy, over the top, predictable, yet relentlessly awesome, and… ZOMG!
I haven’t been this shocked by a 1st episode ending since Eva! (No Linebarrels doesn’t count, that’s just a cliff-hanger to make me tune in one more week before dropping.)
Gainax got spanked.
